It’s fantastic to see how @leedsbid is constantly finding innovative and creative ways to help people discover #Leeds through a completely different lens – the latest being the world’s first city-wide @monopolyleeds takeover which sees the iconic board game brought to life across the Leeds city centre this summer. 

This free, family friendly activity offers life-size tokens, clues and puzzles at key locations and landmarks, including our beautiful @leedscornex building which is now home to the famous ‘Jail’ and the much-loved ‘iron’ token.

As proud custodians of many of Leeds’s heritage buildings – we love to see the city’s history celebrated in this way. If you weren’t aware of Leeds’ ties to the famous board game – the city was home to Waddingtons, Britain’s leading manufacturer of board games and playing cards, which produced the UK version of MONOPOLY from the 1930s. There is also a new permanent display in @leedscitymuseum which tells on the story of Waddingtons, with a particular emphasis on MONOPOLY.
